Color: Be Not Afraid

There they are, as promised. Those gorgeous benches I was bragging about yesterday. I forgot to snap a picture of them in the vignette, so I ran next door to B&F and captured them back in their natural habitat. Aren't they unreal???
My talk on color went great. It was really well attended and I think everyone had a good time. I know I did. These are the days that I love what I do. When I love being an interior designer. Today, being a designer did feel sort of glamorous. Well, until we had to schlep all the furniture back to the showrooms. That's when I snapped back to reality.

This is Francesca, from Sherwin Williams, and me. She spoke about the Color Trends of 2010. Think teal. Sherwin Williams Oceanside is a great deep teal. You can see it in the vignette pictured below.

All and all is was a good day and I really enjoyed doing the presentation. It was a ton of work, but I am ready for the next one. Bring it on.
Now where did I put my cocktail?
Cheers,

Tomorrow's The Big Day

When I was asked way back in October if I would give a presentation at the Ohio Design Center it seemed years away. Well the day has arrived. I spent most of today prepping for the big show.
That is Kirk, my office manager, putting the finishing touches on our teal, yes, teal back drop. It is THE color for 2010.

I set up three vignettes of furnishings from showrooms like Baker, Knapp, and Tubbs, Donghia, and B&F. They were so generous to let me borrow (steal) these gorgeous pieces for the day. Now if I can just get them into my car tomorrow. Maybe they won't notice.

This print gave the perfect balance to that wonderful paint color, Begonia, from Sherwin Williams. They will be presenting the Color Trends of 2010 tomorrow as part of my presentation and were kind enough to supply the paint for the vingettes. Love them.

This vignette isn't quite done yet. Wait until you see the unbelievable silk and cut velvet animal print upholstered benches I am borrowing from B&F to sit directly in front of that pear green sofa. Amazing. It makes they entire grouping pop.
Wish me luck...I am off to practice my power point presentation.
Cheers,
BBS

Installation Day 3

This installation is pretty much in the books. Lots, I mean lots, of art got hung today and all the accessories are in their final resting places. Above is the first peek at the Master Bedroom. Those are the most gorgeous camel colored ultra-suede panels hanging at the window. So soft and smooth, like butter.(I just had to say it)

This was the high point of my day! (Pathetic as it might be...) This is the walk out lower level that will be the media room and teen hang out area. We finally got all of the sports memorabilia up and it looks amazing. It really gave the space personality. Love it.

The teenage son's room....We have more to do tomorrow for this space, so I am just giving you a glimpse. We painted this wall bright, I mean bright, orange and covered it with a brushed stainless looking sticker grid. I had it made by a friend who owns a signage company. I am pretty sure the guys I hired to install this are still seeing stars (And not talking to me), but so worth it. More on this room tomorrow.

Now if the missing furniture that is loaded into the truck, but stuck in North Carolina due to snow, would just get here.......Looks like next week sometime.
Now on to prep for my talk, "Color: Be Not Afraid", which I am giving this Friday, Feb. 5th at noon. It is at the Ohio Design Center if you would like to attend. Tickets are $10.00 and reservations can be made through awilliams@liefkarson.com or by calling 216-831-3767. Ask for Angela.
Cheers,
